Adriana Acevedo Luciani

My first travel to Tanzania was in 2013, and since then my heart was stolen by the country and especially its people. I have an incredible bond that has been present through all these years and has driven me to start a new journey with an amazing team of young doctors that want to make a difference in their communities.

The health research activity for sure can help thousands of people in the Kilimanjaro region, contributing to identify and control diseases that in any other case wouldn’t be detected or diagnosed. I have learnt through all these years that even a small contribution can create a positive impact— and it’s in our hands to do it.

I’m absolutely thrilled with this new opportunity and to continue contributing and being close to the people and country that I also consider my family and my home.

Our Mission

Providing comprehensive health care to rural areas through research-based analysis to ensure overall healthier communities.

Rombo Marathon Screening

The Rombo Marathon, held on December 23, 2024, at the Rongai Forest Sports Grounds, brought together participants from across Tanzania and featured various sponsors, with former President Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete as the guest of honor. Our organization had the opportunity to exhibit and raise awareness about the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country. The event included free screenings for diabetes, hypertension, and BMI measurements, providing a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and fostering future partnerships. The event was well-received, with positive feedback from attendees, though there were areas identified for improvement, such as better organization of medical equipment and the creation of digital platforms for easier documentation. Overall, the event successfully achieved its goals and laid the groundwork for future projects.

Phase I: Rombo Screening

The Phase I Rombo Screening Report, conducted by the Remote Care Research Organisation (RCRO) in January 2025, focused on screening for hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM) in Rombo district, Kilimanjaro. The initiative aimed to assess health statuses, raise awareness, and link newly diagnosed individuals to healthcare services for continuous care. With over 500 participants, the campaign successfully provided health education, identified risk factors, and emphasized the importance of early detection. Despite challenges such as overcrowding and limited resources, the screening highlighted significant health concerns in the region and reinforced the need for ongoing community health efforts. The report offers valuable insights into the prevalence of NCDs and the community's awareness, with a focus on improving healthcare access and education for rural populations.
